Head Teacher's Blog 15.07.24

14th July 2024

Well, here we are in the final week of the summer term. The calendar tells us this even if the weather doesn’t! Let’s hope the sunshine is hanging on for the start of the holiday!

Thankfully the weather stayed dry on Friday afternoon and our Reception and KS1 children were able to enjoy some sporting fun. Thank you to all of the family and friends who came along to cheer the children on. Beech class were our afternoon victors and the winners of the sports day cup - well done to them and well done to all who took part and showed such great sporting behaviour.

Let’s look at our final week’s events:

  • There are no clubs this week, this includes teacher led clubs, NUF and cricket.

  • Y6 Leavers’ Party is on Tuesday 17.30 - 20.00

  • It’s our Y6 Leavers’ Lunch on Wednesday. Please ensure that you have booked in for this event. Parents and family members are invited to join us at 12.15

  • Leavers assembly is on Friday afternoon at 13.45

Our stand out stars who have impressed with their all round brilliance this week are: Bohdi Brown, Faith Hogg, Artie Potts, Rathesh Thayaparan, Matthew Shiells, Archie Edwards and Will Tate. In addition, Mr Johnson has nominated the whole of Beech class following their great sporting behaviour on Friday afternoon.

As the end of term draws in, I’d like to say a very big thank you to my wonderful staff team who have supported and nurtured our children throughout this school year. In particular, I’d like to offer my thanks to Gill Sutherland and Karen Straughan who will both be retiring at the end of this week. Mrs Sutherland joined our school in 2000 and Mrs Straughan followed in 2006. They have supported so many children over the years and we will all miss them very much but wish them all the very best for a happy retirement.

I’d also like to thank  parents, families and carers for their support of our school community. Finally, a very big thank you to each and every one of our fabulous children who make Swansfield a great place to be! We are very much looking forward to sharing our Swansfield Talents video later in the week!

Not long to go until kick off in the football - good luck to England. Let’s hope that the men can equal the achievements of the ladies from 2022! Here’s a classic tune to get us all in the mood.
