Head Teacher's Blog 19.12.22
18th December 2022
After a very long half term we’ve finally reached the last week.
Thank you for all of your support during the Christmas performances, we appreciate the time taken to rehearse lines and songs as well as providing the costumes when you’re already busy with your own Christmas preparations. The children were brilliant and were encouraged by such supportive audiences.
Well done to our school choir for their fabulous performances in the community, they sang for the Elderberries Christmas lunch on Wednesday and toured the town singing at St Paul’s Court, Sainsburys, Starbucks and Summerhill on Friday.
This week we are looking forward to Christmas dinner and party day on Wednesday. Please send children into school in their party clothes but ensure that these are suitable for outdoor play and cold temperatures. Once again thanks to the Friends for paying for the Christmas lunches.
On Thursday Key stage 1 and 2 children (Years 1-6) are celebrating Christingle at St Paul's Church. Our service will be led by our Year 5 and 6 children and choir will sing for us too. Families are invited to join us (max two per child please) and the doors will open at 1:30pm for a 1:45pm start. KS1 children have been asked to bring an orange to school on Wednesday to make a Christingle with our friends from Ignite - we will have spares in school for anyone who is unable to bring one in. Mince pie cases (foil) would also be appreciated for putting Christingles into. Key Stage 2 children are welcome to make Christingles at home and bring them into school on Wednesday or Thursday morning. The instructions are on the school website, follow the link here
Last week we were particularly impressed with the efforts of: Albie Conroy, Gracie Fletcher, Beatrix Patten, Amy Davidson, Rudy Mather, Enya Wightman, Lola Anderson, Katie Jones, Jack Tincombe and Ellie Walker - our stars of the week, well done everyone.
Remember that we have a Teacher Training Day on Friday 23rd December - and that we will return to school on Monday 9th January. For those of you working over the holidays and in need of child care please click here for our Tic Toc Christmas programme.
Our Christmas music this week is Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson. We wonder how many orchestral instruments you can name.

All that remains is for us to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
